About The Therapeutic Poet

Lora’s poetry has been featured throughout the New York metropolitan area since 1992 and has over 30 years advocating for racial and social justice; teaching on the master’s level classes in diversity, racism, oppression. and privilege. She has been featured in noteworthy venues such as: The Write America Podcast, Canio’s Bookstore, “The Church” in Sag Harbor, the Knitting Factory, and Quail Hill Farm.

Facilitator

Also known as the “Therapeutic Poet,” Lora facilitates workshops in poetry and bibliotherapy, also taking part in seminars and professional workshops. She has blogged for publications including POZ online magazine, and has been published in Easthampton Star GuestWords, African Voices magazine, and Brooklyn Poets YAWP.

Speaker

Since settling in Sag Harbor, as a healthcare professional, she has been a speaker for the Economic Opportunity Commission of Suffolk County, co-facilitated with Stonybrook/ Southampton hospital a wellness workshop for the employees of the Parrish Museum, was involved in racial justice seminars and facilitated film discussions titled “Tough Talk” at the John Jermaine Memorial Library.
